Clive Carroll's Summer guitar course 2010, Cubertou, France
Sat 18th – 24 July 2010
For over 30 years Artists have been coming to Cubertou, living and working in its rural surrounds, marvelling at the clarity of light and the landscape and enjoying the exceptional country cuisine and wine of the Vallee du Lot. Situated in historic South West France and conveniently set within 25 tranquil, wooded acres, Cubertou is close to much Romanesque art and architecture that is said to have advanced south with the pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
The Region is rich with ‘Bastides’ spectacular fortified towns, which like Montpazier, are a legacy of the 100 years war.
Cubertou is within accessible distance to the famous prehistoric painted caves of:
Lascauz 11, Font de Gaume, Les Eyzies and Peche Merle. Nearby is the historic town of Cahors, the departmental capital. Also within easy reach of Cubertou are colourful local markets on Thursdays and Sundays and an abundance of vineyards for ‘degustation’
Philosophy
As a group, actively involved in music, we aim to provide a nurturing environment in which each player is encouraged to immerse him or herself in the experience of Clive Carroll daily workshops. Each musician will be encouraged to progress at their own pace and Clive actively encourages students of all levels who are involved in making music. For this course to be of benefit Clive has recommended that potential students are familiar with all the major and minor chords in the first position.
Accommodation
Clive’s guitar workshops are designed to give the music student a 6 day experience of Clive’s unique instrumental music techniques and playing. We at Cubertou design the day so all your needs are taken care of leaving you free with all the time you need for practise, workshops and outings should you so wish.
All meals, with the exception of the occasional picnic in the grounds are served on long tables in the barn. The evening meal is candlelit
